The Relume Technologies patented "silver circuitry" high performance insulated metal substrate process dramatically improves performance for many military applications. It has been able to demonstrate a three to four times increase in luminous output over conventional approaches while dramatically increasing reliability and LED life at significantly lower production costs. Combined with its advanced pulse modulation technology, Relume is able to produce high power, secure signaling lamps for both visible and infrared applications.
Patented Silver Circuitry dissipates heat, improves performance and increases LED light engine life.
Conventional large arrays of high output LEDs are particularly vulnerable to heat degradation. It is extremely difficult to shed heat from dense light arrays, especially in hotter climates. The Relume patented Silver Circuit technology sets new standards in thermal management. Utilizing advanced adhesives, proprietary 95.5% pure silver circuit construction and innovative screen circuit printing methods, Relume produces highly efficient, robust LED light engines that perform, cooler, brighter and longer.
MILITARY APPLICATIONS
3 million candle power portable searchlight
Relume Technologies is working under a grant from the US Army to develop a portable 3,000,000 candlepower LED searchlight. A second Infra Red version of the searchlight is also being developed for covert communications.
Vehicle and aircraft lighting
Relume leads the industry in the next generation of rugged, lightweight, high output LED light engines for land vehicle and aircraft use. Relume patented technologies enables the production of cost effective LED solutions that have unequalled ruggedness and adaptability to virtually all-operating environments. The same technology used for exterior vehicle lighting can be used for critical interior vehicle lighting. Used in an RGB LED array, Relume can design high output, maximum efficiency, shock resistant lighting to meet any wavelength (color) requirements.
High output beacons
Relume patented silver circuit insulated metal substrate process enables the production of very high output directional beacons that are small, low-cost, inherently weatherproof and virtually shockproof. By combining a wind sensor and Relume pulsing technology, beacons could be coded to give positional and wind information. Using IR, these beacons could be used during covert operations.
Homeland Security
Relume's technology can play a vital role in lighting mobile field hospital, command and control units. These lighting applications would dramatically reduce total weight and power requirements.
This could allow more room for other valuable resources such as medical supplies, emergency gear, food or water.
Night Vision Enhancement
When used for covert nighttime illumination and communication, Relume LED light engines are capable of peak optical power of more than 300 Watts with an average power consumption of 30 Watts. In its simplest form, Relume high power IR illuminators can be used to secure an extended viewing range in excess of 2 Km.
IFF Covert Communications
Relume LED light engines can play a key role in an IR communication system. As an alternative to radio links, Relume high peak power illuminators can establish a robust, secure data link between positions as far as 10 Km, line of sight. Comprehensive encryption renders this link secure to covert interception and further allows implementation of IFF protocols.
Inter-Convoy Communications
Equipping convoy vehicles with IR transceivers permits secure voice or data exchange without compromising the convoy position. IR transceivers could be coupled to IR illuminators on the vehicles to act as invisible headlamps providing broad area NVG enhancement.
Night Vision Decoy/
Illuminator/Jamming Unit
Relume technology enables the design of a low-cost, portable, high power night vision decoy/illuminator/jamming device that would inhibit enemy night operations. These units would be modulated to disable the AGC (auto gain control) loop compensation algorithms used in current night vision equipment.
Medical Applications
Relume proprietary technology could easily be adapted for producing low cost, highly sophisticated light engine arrays for future medical applications. NASA is currently funding the usage of LEDs for wound healing. They have sent LED arrays up with the Space Shuttle to help speed wound healing in zero gravity. The Navy is also testing LED wound healing in submarines where high carbon dioxide levels inhibit healing.
