About Relume Technologies
Relume manufactures highly efficient, cost-effective LED lighting products based on its patented Silver Circuitry™ thermal management technology.
Incorporated in 1994 as an LED research and development company, Relume quickly became a leading innovator by recognizing and responding to the critical need for advanced thermal management to accompany the strides being made in LED technology.
Relume has successfully demonstrated how LED technology can be adapted to replace traditional lighting, particularly in safety critical applications. Relume has developed a number of prototype lighting systems related to covert military communications, mobile hospital and command shelters and LED vehicle lighting systems.
Today, Relume’s reach has expanded to include commercial and traffic signage, street and area lighting, outdoor advertising, transportation, airfields and advanced military applications. By housing its research and development operations and manufacturing facility under one roof, Relume is able to guarantee maximum quality, consistency, and performance in each of its LED lighting products from concept to completion.
With its proprietary technologies and processes, Relume sets new industry standards for LED performance, ruggedness and economy.
Silver Circuitry™: the Relume advantage
Heat is the enemy of LEDs, and as LEDs quickly become the cost-effective alternative to traditional high intensity discharge (HID) light sources, the need for improved thermal management is critical.
Relume’s patented Silver Circuitry™ thermal management solution and custom manufacturing processes can extract LED heat unlike anything on the market.
Relume’s Founder
Peter Hochstein
President, Chief Technology Officer
and Director
Peter Hochstein has enjoyed a challenging and varied career working on many high technology projects. He started his career at Owens Illinois Technical Center working on the development of ultra high temperature induction heating instrumentation. In 1966 he moved to the General Motors Technical Center. As a Senior Project Engineer in the materials and structures laboratory, he worked on numerous automotive and non-automotive projects including classified contracts on re-entry physics for ballistic missiles and the early development of LED lighting.
In 1975 he founded Quantex Engineering to provide instrumentation, test stands and proprietary hardware for the automotive industry and allied suppliers. Quantex also developed proprietary electronics technologies resulting in patentable products sold by Quantex clients. Mr. Hochstein’s expertise with LEDs was further developed at Quantex where he subsequently concentrated his efforts on improving the efficiency and efficacy of LEDs for commercial applications.
In 1994 he founded Relume Technologies as a Quantex spin off. At Relume Mr. Hochstein has continued to innovate unique solutions to complex LED lighting problems and develop related technologies. Since founding Relume, Mr. Hochstein has been issued 11 patents, with several additional patents pending.
He holds Bachelor of Science and Physics degrees from the University of Toledo and Acton College. Post-graduate studies at Wayne State University and Oakland University included Engineering Optics and X-ray Crystallography. He is the creator of more than 80 patented inventions and has been granted Department of Defense secret clearance for his work with the U.S. Military.
