Survey finds public feels safer in city spaces lit by LEDs

Cree, Inc. and Mindwave Research commissioned an independent survey in 2007 with the objective of determining if there is a significant perceived improvement in overall perceptions of parking garages by replacing HID lights with LED lights. The survey was administered in a North Carolina municipal parking garage. After installing LED lights, the survey found:

• Both males and females felt significantly safer
• Perceptions of the lighting quality improved three-fold
• Overall satisfaction with the parking facility doubled
• Ratings on cleanliness improved significantly
